The CMCbt is a compact Bluetooth® pulse counter and wireless interface for hydrometeorological field instruments using reed-switch or contact-closure pulse outputs. It converts pulse signals generated by tipping bucket rain gauges, flow gauges, and mechanical current meters into a Bluetooth® serial data stream for transmission to compatible mobile devices and field software applications.
Designed for portable field operation, the CMCbt enables wireless data acquisition, display, and processing without wired interfaces or dedicated counting hardware. The device supports real-time pulse counting and serial communication via Bluetooth® and can be integrated with KISTERS field applications such as HydroTab and the Field Calibration App.
The rugged IP66 enclosure, battery-powered operation, and low-power Bluetooth® interface make the CMCbt suitable for hydrometeorological measurements in demanding outdoor environments. The device supports both intermittent and continuous measurements and provides real-time count transmission for field verification and operational control.
Application: tipping bucket rain gauges
Field calibration of tipping bucket rain gauges
In combination with the Field Calibration Device (FCD) and the Field Calibration App, the CMCbt provides wireless pulse counting for field verification and calibration of KISTERS Tipping Bucket Rain Gauges. Tips generated during calibration are transmitted in real time via Bluetooth® to the mobile application, where measurements can be displayed, processed, and documented directly in the field.
The wireless connection simplifies setup and operation during maintenance and calibration procedures while reducing cabling and external counting equipment. The solution supports efficient on-site functional testing and calibration of rainfall measurement systems in hydrometeorological monitoring networks.
Application: mechanical current meters
Wireless pulse counting for stream gauging
The CMCbt provides a Bluetooth® interface for KISTERS mechanical current meters such as the OSSPC1 and OSSB1. Pulse signals generated by the rotating current meter are counted and transmitted wirelessly to compatible field devices, particularly the KISTERS HydroTab stream gauging solution.
Designed for high-speed pulse acquisition, the CMCbt supports real-time velocity measurements and wireless data transfer during discharge measurements in rivers, streams, and open channels. Integration with HydroTab enables efficient field workflows for hydrological monitoring and stream gauging applications.
